KSCERATO: "It's not about the pressure, it's about the passion"
Coming off a clean 16-2 victory over Infinity, Kaike "KSCERATO" Ceratoand his FURIA brothers are one step closer to playing in the Major in Rio. A 1.56 rating from the man in all caps proved impactful in their domination.
After that stunning performance, we had to get an interview with the man where he talked about their recent struggles, the Brazilian scene, and Rafael "saffee" Costa's integration into the roster.
You just had your first game in the Americas RMR. How do you feel to be on the first steps of a Brazilian major?
I feel great, everyone feels great because we have to do our work and we've work hard for this. We are here, so we have to enjoy it. If it is a fast game, we have to enjoy it and learn from some missteps.
Over the last few years FURIA has become one of the best teams in Brazil, if not the best team throughout. How important is it for you to put up a good performance with the major being in Rio?
I think we have a lot of responsibility, but we don't care a lot about the pressure because we worked for this and we love it. It's not about the pressure, it's more about the passion.
You guys and Liquid seem to be the favorites to go for that 3-0 spot. Considering their form recently with the run at EPL and Cologne, tell me what's like that you probably are going to meet them for that 3-0 spot.
I think they are a really good team with YEKINDAR in their roster. They have good firepower and I think nitr0 has a great responsibility for this, because nitr0 is a good captain, I think. They have a good roster and I think it's going to be a good game if they reach there.
From the major in Antwerp until Cologne, you kind of fell off in terms of the stats you had, because you had such a high level previously. After the player break, you came out to Pro League and you performed amazingly, and you performed amazingly here so far in the one game you had. What did you change from the player break to go back to that form?
Actually I think it's more because of our mental health. I think we need to reset sometimes because we travel a lot so we have a lot of stress from the travel, bootcamps, practicing, and practicing not going well because of the other teams. I think it's hard, but we are reaching there. I think the player break was good for us.
Some questions have been asked about arT's aggression and the way that he likes to call the game, some people might have assumed that FURIA had been figured out. Over the player break, what kind of stuff did you guys change, or have you just tried to keep going with your own style?
We changed a lot because saffee is our AWPer and we need an AWPer with us, and our playstyle makes it hard an AWPer to perform, so we need to put more threats because of saffee. We needed to change spaces, so now we have different strategies and we are not the same team as before.
saffee is another player that struggled in terms of form towards the end of last season, what have you been doing to set him up?
I think it's more about talking to him and talking through his feelings. We know how important he is and he knows how important he is. We talk a lot and it's going pretty well in EPL and now the RMR. I think we're more comfortable now.
There's quite a lot of South American teams here at the RMR, we know you guys, Imperial, and the likes of 00 Nation will likely be the favorites to go through with the six spots, who would be your dark horse pick from the South American teams to go through?
Probably oNe. I think they didn't play in some tournaments last season, so they're kind of fresh right now. I'm saying those guys because I know they're really good and have yet to show their full potential.
FURIA is now 2-1 after suffering a loss at the hands of Evil Geniuses, but being victorious against O PLANO earlier today. Their qualification matchup has not yet been released.
