OverDrive: "I don't think m0NESY will join Falcons"

Russian coach, leaker, talent scout and overall "gray eminence" of the Russian Counter-Strike scene Alexey "⁠OverDrive⁠" Birukov provided some interesting comments on the future of superstar G2 AWPer Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov in a recent interview with HLTV.

In the lengthy interview where OverDrive spoke of his scouting process, Spirit's unofficial talent scout cast doubt on m0NESY following Nikola "NiKo" Kovač to Saudi organization Falcons, stating:

I don't think he will join Falcons. G2 will want to sell him as his contract is expiring at the end of the year and if he just plays until the end of the contract, it will be a huge loss by the management. It's obvious that they will be pushing him [to other teams] and asking for a big buyout during the summer.

Previously rumors have suggested that m0NESY would be following NiKo to Falcons following the expiration of his contract at the end of 2025, however OverDrive suggests that G2 will look to sell him to anyone else before the expirations of his contract. Additionally, OverDrive says that m0NESY has a preference for return to a Russian-speaking team, however he noted that this is unlikely at the moment due to the overall state of the CIS scene.

For any team, securing the services of m0NESY would be a major coup, but it remains to seen what the future holds for the young star, especially as it is still early in 2025 and the fortunes of teams are prone to change a moment's notice.
