Breaking: Key duo poached from BOSS in final hours of 2024
In a shock announcement during the final hours of 2024, BOSS announced the departures of Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore, Matthew "d4rty" Paplawskas, and Matt "Warden" Dickens, seeing the successful orgless team lose three integral pieces in one fell swoop.
Dust2.us has learned that the departures of Cryptic and d4rty are due to the duo being called up by two separate teams with Warden's exit being tied to the departures and the team's organization search failing to bear fruit.
Cryptic told Dust2.us that he made the difficult decision to step down from BOSS due to an undisclosed team reaching out to the IGL multiple times, leading him to finally accept the offer. Cryptic said this offer led to d4rty deciding to accept an offer from a second undisclosed team.
The loss of Cryptic and d4rty along with Warden will have a profound effect on the lineup as the squad's success in part relied on the strong leadership of Cryptic and Warden as well as the tenured core of d4rty, Cryptic, and Adam "freshie" Paterson. The task now for the remaining three players will be to decide whether to recruit two new players on short notice for the 2025 season or pursue individual offers.
With Cryptic and dr4ty heading to new teams and Warden stepping down, BOSS are now:
-
Adam "freshie" Paterson
-
Keller "SLIGHT" Nilan
-
Gavin "Fruitcupx" Norman
Should BOSS stay together, they will need to rally and secure two new players ahead of the start of the 2025 VRS season month with ESL Challenger League Season 49 notably starting on January 21st.
