The future of Dust2.us

Dust2.us will undergo a phase of rebuilding to secure the future of the site.

As you might have seen during the last couple of days, Dust2.us has been hit by layoffs, which means the now former Editor in Chief, Ryan Friend, is no longer with us.

This is due to circumstances beyond our control, which have forced us to make cost reductions to ensure sustainable long-term success. This will affect Dust2 and result in Dust2.se ceasing operations starting today.

Dust2.us will not be shut down as a result of this, but we have had to make a plan to be able to save the site. That plan includes a lower budget and a change in the organizational structure, which was presented to the current staff in a meeting on Wednesday.

We will start this process very soon and expect to be able to fully launch the new structure and team after the Shanghai Major. I want to make it clear: We are still very dedicated to operating a site that will help and support the North American Counter-Strike scene, but to be able to do so, we need to rebuild and make sure income and expenses are aligned.

Before doing so, I want to thank Ryan and the rest of the current and former staff for their hard work. They truly took the site to a much better place during the last couple of years, and I am really sad that it ended so suddenly as I enjoyed our cooperation.

For Ryan and those who decide not to stay in the new structure, I wish them all the best of luck going forward and I hope they end up in a good place. I know they did their best and much more than I could have expected to create the best possible site, but the timing was just not in our favor this time.

Stay tuned for more information about the future. I hope to see many of you use and support Dust2.us in the future when we have all digested these sudden events.

The recent events won't affect the operations of HLTV and the three other Dust2 sites.
