Team Croatia disqualified from IESF for cheating
The International Esports Federation has disqualified Team Croatia from competing any further in the IESF World Championship European Closed Qualifiers after a manual review found that the team was using "programs that provided an unfair advantage (cheating)" in the matchup against Israel on July 9th.
Following the match, one of the Israeli players, Shiran "shushan" Shushan took a dig at Croatia as he said the team lost to "the best reads in Counter-Strike." While in the Lower Bracket, Israel would later defeat Albania, but lose to Serbia in the second lower bracket round and be eliminated from the competition.
Croatia was set to play against Poland's representative Rebels later today. However, given Croatia's disqualification Rebels have been awarded a default win and earned a spot in the upcoming IESF World Championship. The IESF has decided against resetting the bracket with Poland, Romania, and Serbia all qualifying directly for the international LAN.
An IESF representative provided the following statement to Liquipedia which was then shared with Dust2.us;
I would like to inform you that Croatia (CS2 Open team) has been disqualified from the IESF European Regional Qualifiers. Our head referees, after reviewing the match against Israel, determined that Croatia was using programs that provided an unfair advantage (cheating) in that matchup. Further details regarding the decision and the length of the players' ban will be available at a later stage. The bracket will not be reverted; Poland will receive a free win today, and Serbia and Romania are qualified for WEC24.
