NAVI WIN FIRST CS2 MAJOR!
NAVI are officially the first Major champions for Counter-Strike 2, claiming victory at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 after taking down FaZe in an exciting 2-1 finals! The Ukrainian organization has claimed their second Major after claiming PGL Major Stockholm 2021 over G2.
The match began on FaZe's pick of Ancient, where the star-studded squad struggled to find consistency throughout the map. It was a crucial beginning for the favorite who many thought could secure the series in just two maps. FaZe were only able to secure five rounds on their T-side before eventually falling to NAVI 13-9 after also struggling to hold back the Ukrainian organization's effective offense.
Mirage was a completely different story. It would be improper to say that it was a competitive map as FaZe utterly demolished NAVI on the T-side. Justinas "jL" Lekavicius and his squad could not defend strongly as Finn "karrigan" Andersen secured ten rounds on the T-side and closed out the map 13-2.
Inferno, the third and final map, was going right towards NAVI's way as they utterly dominated on their defense and pulled their way to a 9-3 CT-side. After switching sides, FaZe continued to be quiet on the server as Valeriy "b1t" Vakhovskiy continued to be a complete terror as he powered NAVI to a 12-3 lead.
With a Major win just one more round way for Aleksi "Alekisib" Virolainen, he called a straightforward round against a FaZe forcebuy to win Inferno 13-3 to take the Major trophy!
