Jonji exits MIGHT after mixed end to 2024
MIGHT have announced the departure of Jonathan "Jonji" Carey from the team's ranks, seeing the Canadian leave MIGHT after five months with his former EG White teammates in ESEA Advanced. Jonji's departure from MIGHT follows the experienced lineup missing out on ESL Challenger League Season 48 Relegation, with a poor 9th-12th place finish in ESEA Advanced Season 51 putting the team's goal of returning to ECL on the back burner until at least mid-2025.
Overall, MIGHT's results with their most recent roster have left much to be desired from the tenured lineup, with the team's only notable result in recent months being a fourth-place finish in ESEA Advanced Season 50.
This lack of success seems to be one of the main motivating factors in the decision to part ways with Jonji, with Jonathan "djay" Dallal telling Dust2.us admitting that the lineup "came up short in a plethora of ways," with a lack of buy-in from unnamed members of the lineup making the tough decision to part ways with Jonji necessary.
djay also noted that with Jonji having a full-time job and other commitments, he would potentially be unable to attend LAN events with the squad next year, something djay noted would hold the team back with the new Valve Ranking System in 2025.
Jonji echoed djay's comments from his own perspective, saying that he felt the team had stagnated and that he couldn't give the team what they felt they needed to break the stalemate and evolve beyond their EG White days. With his departure, Jonji said he hopes to find a new team in 2025 that shares his goals and perspectives on the game.
MIGHT are now:
-
Jonathan "djay" Dallal
-
Ryan "Snakes" Amann
-
Nolan "Louie" Herges
-
Josh "PwnAlone" Pigue (Stand-in)
-
Calvin "becker" Becker (Coach)
MIGHT will look to sort out their roster ahead of the start of the 2025 season following the Winter Player Break.
