Wildcard reach United21 S7 upper-bracket final
Wildcard is now one win away from reaching the United21 Season 7 grand final after beating both Sprout Academy and Sashi 2-0. The North American squad kept going strong even after an early elimination from Thunderpick World Championship and is now one series away from the $5,000 prize pool money given to the top two teams.
Sashi, a Danish organization whose coach is none other than Nicolai "HUNDEN" Petersen, has gone through a lot of changes recently. They have swapped out 14 players since the start of the year. It's a very well-known organization in Denmark, not only due to the roster changes but also because a Danish meat importer, JN Meat, funds Sashi.
The series against Sprout Academy was very comfortable for Wildcard, as the team always managed to have the lead at halftime. The first map, Mirage, ended with a 13-8 scoreline, with the T-side of the North American team proving to be solid. The second map would be Anubis, and in a T-side oriented meta, Wildcard made the difference on the CT-side with eight round wins in the first half. The team only lost one round on the T-side, winning the map 13-5.
The series against Sashi was a bit closer, but NA came out on top, nonetheless. Once again, the T-side proved to be the key to unlocking the games, as Wildcard went to halftime of Ancient tied 6-6, in a CT-side favored map. The second half showed favoritism, as Sashi would only win three T-side rounds. 13-9 was the final score before going into Inferno, which started with Wildcard on the CT-side and leading at the half 7-5. The map would end 13-7, as the Danes only managed to get two T-side round wins.
With these wins, Wildcard has reached the upper-bracket final where they will meet sYnck, the only team able to beat the NA side during the event. sYnck have wins against household names of the European tier two scene, Anonymo and HAVU, both wins with a 2-0 scoreline.
Wildcard will fight for a grand final spot on Saturday at 05:00AM.
