ATK sign short-term contracts with renewed quintet
As part of an upcoming interview with ATK CEO, Warren "Flea" Barkhuizen, regarding the team's current contractual situation, it was revealed that ATK signed short-term with five players on May 6th, keeping the quintet tied to the organization until the summer player break. Alongside Gareth "MisteM" Ries and Michael "Swisher" Schmid, ATK have locked in Ethan "reck" Serrano, Adam "WolfY" Andersson, and Jonathan "Jonji" Carey.
This new-look ATK lineup was spotted playing together at the recent sixth ESEA Cash Cup Circuit event, where they finished in 3rd-4th place following a loss to eventual champions Party Astronauts. These new short-term contracts finally see reck join ATK's lineup on an official basis after fielding him as a stand-in since February 22nd. The move also sees Swisher reunite with Jonji, with whom he played on Bad News Bears for eight months in 2021. It also sees WolfY return stateside after almost two years out in Sweden, where he played with the likes of ECSTATIC and Fnatic Rising.
Importantly, these contracts are only set to last until mid-June, as the CSPPA-brokered summer player break is set to start on June 12th. Beyond that point, as discussed in the upcoming interview, Flea said broadly his goal is to assemble a roster than can be based in North America moving forward.
As such, ATK are now:
-
Gareth "MisteM" Ries
-
Michael "Swisher" Schmid
-
Ethan "reck" Serrano
-
Adam "WolfY" Andersson
-
Jonathan "Jonji" Carey
-
Daniel "sprayxd" Kogan (Coach)
-
Jonathan "b0denmaster" Bodenmalm (Inactive)
ATK's first match in ESL Challenger League Season 45 with this roster is set for tomorrow, May 10th, against Snakes Den.
