torzsi: "we don't really care [about] what happened or what will happen"

MOUZ is in the semifinals of a Major for the first in the organization's history.

After making history with MOUZ by qualifying for the semifinals of the IEM Rio Major, Ádám "torzsi" Torzsás talked with Ryan Friend from Dust2.us about the game against Cloud9, the crowd effect, and the mental fortitude the whole team has been showing.

First of all, congratulations! Upsetting Cloud9 must be a great feeling.

Thank you, it was a great match. It was very nice to play in front of the crowd.

Apparently, the crowd was out for part of the game watching Gaules at the Fan Fest, and he brought them back inside halfway through the game. Did you feel the crowd shift later in the game, and did you use that as motivation?

I mean, I felt it from the beginning. For example, they were booing Cloud9 and cheering for us a lot. It was good that they were cheering for us, but I didn't really like that they were booing Cloud9, because I mean they are a really good team and they have a lot of respect. They are really good players, and they don't deserve this, but I mean, it's just part of the business I guess.

Do you think the crowd affected Cloud9 at all?

That's a good question. To be honest, I don't know. I don't think so; even though we didn't play Cloud9 in officials, we played like fifty pracs versus each other, we played a lot, so we kinda knew how they play.

So knowing how they played heading into the game, did everything go according to plan even though you guys traded your map picks?

Yeah, we had really good preparation, and we played a lot with each other so we knew how they play. They really like to play these default rounds and just group up in the mid-round and get a mid-round call. The first map didn't really go well, and after that, we just had to wake up. On Overpass and Ancient, we just crushed them.

Were you guys worried after the first map, or did you still think you had a shot?

Even though we lost the first map, we didn't have this feeling because I think we have no pressure because, if I'm honest, no one really expected us to be in the playoffs. We wanted to be in the playoffs, but it was not expected. It's just a great feeling to play here, and it's just a reward to play here, and we want to gain experience and play as much as we can. We are not worried about losing, we are just enjoying, having fun, and trying to do our best.

Do you think that helps you guys play better, not worrying too much about what happens and living in each moment?

Yeah, I think it helps us a lot. Not worrying, there is no pressure. I think one of the most important things if you play CS is to enjoy it, I think it gives you a boost if you're having fun and enjoying CS. It's much easier to play, your mind is clearer, and if you have fun it's just better to play.

Having this day off, you're probably doing a lot of practice. How prepared are you for your semifinal?

We play versus Outsiders, and we lost to them in the Legends Stage. We watched back that game and we talked a lot about it, and I think we will have a really good match versus them in the semifinals because we had good preparation versus them. We talked a lot because they have this unique playstyle, and I think we are more well-prepared now than last time.

You're trying to play for the moment, but how do you keep up your spirits in the mid-game in crushing situations?

We are working a lot with our coach and our sports psychologist. We always try to focus on the moment; we don't really care what happened or what will happen, even if it's 15-9 for us or 15-9 for them, it doesn't matter, we just focus on the round. We always play round-by-round, that is the most important thing.

How helpful is it to have a sports psychologist, especially for you guys as young players?

I think it's really important. I would give a big shoutout to our sports psychologist, and also our coach sycrone, they are both doing a great job. They are working together to make us better. I think it's really important to have [a sports psychologist], you can talk to him about everything if you don't feel comfortable, if you feel pressured, it's just so much easier to do things and it makes your life much easier and healthier. We always want to focus on the good things, to have a good relaxation after games, recharging energy and things like that.

MOUZ now has to win against Outsiders to clinch a spot in the grand final. The game starts at 12:00PM.
