Thorin calls FalleN the "most over-rated player in the history of CS:GO"
Following Imperial's over-powering victory versus forZe in the elimination matchup of the PGL Antwerp Major, Duncan "Thorin" Shields took to Twitter to berate Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, despite the 30-year-old's performance where he finished the two-map series with an impressive 1.61 rating.
As previously mentioned, the 39-year-old analyst opened up on Twitter about his feelings surrounding the Imperial captain, claiming that he has "never even been the best player on any line-up".
Coming to the defence of the veteran in-game leader was none other than the best player in the world, Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev, who was quick to rebuff the analyst's thinking surrounding FalleN's Counter-Strike legacy.
For context, FalleN is one of the most legendary players to have hailed from Brazil, leading both Luminosity and SK to back-to-back Major Championships back in 2016 at MLG Colombus and ESL One Cologne. Outside of lifting two Major trophies, the current IGL of Imperial was also ranked as the second and sixth best player in the world in HLTV's Top 20 rankings of 2016 and 2017, respectively. FalleN isn't just brains, with the Godfather also averaging a respectable 1.07 rating across a whopping 1546 maps throughout his lengthy Counter-Strike career.
More recently, FalleN has been at the helm during Imperial's run through the ongoing PGL Antwerp Major, taking down the likes of Liquid and forZe on their way to securing a spot in the Legends stage.
While FalleN's individual performance has certainly taken a dip in recent years, notably falling from a solid 1.14 rating in 2017 to a modest 1.00 rating in 2021, there's no doubt that FalleN is one of the most storied and successful players across any iteration of Counter-Strike.
Imperial will now be eagerly awaiting the start of the Legends stage of the Major, with their opening matchup set to be against BIG on Saturday, 14th May at 09:45AM.
