New stanislaw project with Delta9, SPERMY, phantom goes live
Dust2.us has confirmed that Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz is set to lead a new lineup in ESL Challenger League Season 40 based out of ex-Detonate's spot. Alongside the former Evil Geniuses' IGL, the team currently features former Detonate player David "Delta9" Shafer, Jacob "SPERMY" Younan, and former ChocoCheck substitute Ali "phantom" Sachs.
This new lineup marks stanislaw's return to action after being cut from Evil Geniuses in November following a disastrous year for the Canadian as an IGL and individual player. Under his leadership Evil Geniuses ended the year as 35th in the world on HLTV's world rankings while stanislaw posted a 0.87 rating — a career low. stanislaw likely hopes that playing at a lower tier of competition will let him regain his form and reputation in North America.
Of the new pieces stanislaw will have to play with, Delta9 is the only player that has recent experience at the ECL/Premier level, having played for Detonate, CENSRD, and Levitate in 2021. Over the course of 2021, Delta9 posted a 1.00 rating over 126 maps.
SPERMY has been out of action since ESEA Advanced Season 35 playoffs with Counter Nature and failed to play a single map on HLTV or in ESEA league play in 2021. phantom finds himself in a similar situation, as despite ChocoCheck seemingly always needing a substitute, he hasn't played a single map since December 2020 with Rebirth during ESEA Winter 2020 Cash Cup 2.
SPERMY told Dust2.us that while the current quartet are relatively certain, several things regarding the team are still up in the air including their fifth, who will be the team's substitute to keep the ECL spot, and what their new name will be.
For the moment, ex-Detonate are:
-
Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz
-
David "Delta9" Shafer
-
Jacob "SPERMY" Younan
-
Ali "phantom" Sachs
ex-Detonate will need to find their fifth, settle their substitute, and come up with a new name in short order as ESL Challenger League Season 40 is set to start tomorrow, January 18th.
