steel's ban is officially over

steel officially unbanned by Valve

steel can now play or work on broadcast at Majors.

Just after the tenth anniversary of his ban, Joshua "steel" Nissan has been unbanned, meaning he can now participate in Majors.

steel was first banned on January 26th, 2015 due to his role in the iBUYPOWER match-fixing scandal. He would go on to stick around the scene, staying active in the FPL/Rank S hubs and returning to action in non-Valve-sanctioned events when he was allowed to compete in them in July 2017. He cracked into the top-20 teams in the world on a couple of occasions, despite his ban.

The Canadian did leave CS for VALORANT in 2020, a game in which he would be able to compete at the highest level. He found success early in the Riot FPS, showing the level he could have reached in Counter-Strike.

steel is focusing more on broadcast opportunities rather than playing, so we may see him on the desk at BLAST.tv Austin Major in June. You can also see him play for Marsborne in ESL Challenger League Season 49 North America.
