HooXi to miss out on IEM Dallas 2024, American rifler possible stand-in
G2 will be headed to Dallas a man down as Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen is unable to attend the American event, Dust2.us has learned. The Danish IGL has a personal conflict that prevents him from traveling to the United States for the marquee event.
While many would assume that this is the first step in G2 moving beyond the under-fire Danish IGL, sources have assured Dust2.us that is not the case, and this is simply a scheduling conflict.
G2 is in the midst of ESL Pro League Season 19 and are coming off of a victory over BIG earlier today. They are scheduled to play against French side 3DMAX in the second round of playoffs.
G2 confirmed with Dust2.us that HooXi would not be available for IEM Dallas 2024 and stated that they are "exploring options for the stand-in". Dust2.us knows that one of those options is Jacky "Stewie2k" Yip, who even hinted that he would be traveling to Dallas with a post this afternoon.
"It's about to be even more fun," the rifler teased. "Cali —> Dallas should be a short trip, right?"
Stewie2k is seemingly beginning his comeback to the Counter-Strike scene following his departure from Evil Geniuses in July 2022. He joined up with Legacy in the wake of Marcelo "coldzera" David's departure after the 2024 PGL Copenhagen Major and played for the squad in their ESEA Advanced campaign. He is set to be replaced by Guilherme "saadzin" Pacheco once the Brazilian receives his visa to enter the United States.
This would also be his first LAN since the 2022 PGL Antwerp Major Americas RMR where Evil Geniuses finished 8th and just missed out on attending the Major.
G2 has told Dust2.us that no decisions have been finalized as of this moment as to who will fill in for HooXi. Dust2.us also reached out to Stewie2k to comment on the story, but he did not respond by the time of publication.
Update, 05:26PM: French professional Audric "JACKZ" Jug indicates that he was supposed to be the stand-in for G2 at IEM Dallas 2024 but ESL rules prevented him due to playing qualifiers with a random mix.
