ESL Impact Season 5 LAN Finals qualification scenarios
ESL Impact Season 5 North American will be reaching its end today, as all four games will be played at the same time. While FlyQuest RED are already confirmed to be attending the LAN Finals in Dallas, the second spot is still up for grabs between Limitless Angels and Shimmer.
Although Karma might end the regional division with the same points as Limitless Angels and Shimmer, thanks to its loss against Shimmer earlier in the season, there are no scenarios that see the team advancing to the LAN event.
Most scenarios end with Shimmer grabbing the Dallas spot and Karma claiming third place. There is only one case that will result in Limitless Angels qualifying and that is if Limitless Angels defeat Shimmer, 2-0 or 2-1, and Karma loses. This would see both Shimmer and Angels tied in points for second place, with the Limitless women's team advancing due to the direct match win between the two teams.
Even if Limitless Angels beat Shimmer, 2-0 or 2-1, Shimmer will be the ones advancing if Karma also wins against cleanup crew. The Angels can claim an extra $200 in this scenario if Karma drops a map against cleanup crew and Shimmer fails to win a single map, which would see Shimmer finishing in second place, followed by the Angels, and then Karma.
With this, it's confirmed that the teams retaining their spots for Season 6 are FlyQuest RED, Shimmer, Limitless Angels, and Karma. Even if Nouns beat FlyQuest RED and Karma and Angels lose their matches, it will be Nouns, cleanup crew, WG Bandits, and COVEN failing to secure an invite for next season.
