FURIA lose out to MOUZ in three map thriller
Fans in the Western Hemisphere can be happy as they wake up this morning as both Liquid and FURIA have came away with wins, with the latter suffering a tough loss against MOUZ in their second match of the day. FURIA kept it close throughout the contest and even got on match point after a monumental comeback on Vertigo, but were unable to close it out in regulation or overtime. Now the Brazilians will have to face HEROIC in the lower final matchup.
FURIA got their match started off on the right foot as they earned a solid six rounds on the T-side of Nuke. At first, it was looking like Ádám "torzsi" Torzsás would spoil FURIA's hopes of winning their map pick, but it was Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo who stepped up on the CT-side to close out the map 13-8. The Brazilians were put into prime position to close out the series as they now headed to MOUZ's pick of Vertigo.
MOUZ certainly did not let the loss on Nuke affect them, as they came out roaring on their CT-side. The European side held FURIA to just two offensive rounds, taking a commanding 10-2 lead and looking to even the score. It was FURIA that would seemingly put up an even better CT-side as they came all the way back from an eight-round deficit to tie it up at 11-11 and eventually force overtime. MOUZ somehow was able to secure their own map pick during the overtime and forced a matchup on Mirage.
Mirage was a back-and-forth map, which saw FURIA's offense come away with a solid five rounds to keep the game exceptionally close by the half. MOUZ, however, started to pull away in the second half after securing the second-round pistol and subsequent gun rounds. While FURIA were mounting a comeback on their CT-side, MOUZ pulled further away and eventually closed out the map 13-9 and the series 2-1.
FURIA will play Heroic on Tuesday morning at 04:30AM.
