Jonji comes out of retirement, replaces GMAN in Atmosphere
Atmosphere announced early this morning that they had brought on Jonathan "Jonji" Carey in place of Gabriel "GMAN" Ordaz.
This news comes as somewhat of a surprise as Jonji had announced his break from competitive CS just two weeks prior. Jonji was recently part of the Rise Nation roster before being removed from the line-up after a less-than-stellar performance in the ESEA MDL Season 26 Finals against SoaR, a loss that prevented the team from advancing to ESL Pro League. Shortly after, he did a stint with RONIN before stepping back from the game.
Soon after Atmosphere's announcement, Jonji explained in a Tweet of his own that he won't be able to begin school again until the Fall Semester, so he jumped at this opportunity. He went on to express his elation in rejoining old teammates Dion "Bl4ckiice" Mckenzie and Joshua "Hunter" Madore.
With the addition of Jonji, Atmosphere's revised roster is as follows:
- Joshua "Hunter" Madore
- Dion "Bl4ckiice" Mckenzie
- Ludovic "tiz" Emond
- Alfonso "krZ" Fiorani
- Jonathan "Jonji" Carey
Atmosphere recently fell to #5 in the MDL standings after several weeks in the number one slot, dropping maps to Torqued and Swole Patrol. They are scheduled to play against Freedom 35 later today. Despite the recent stumbles, they still maintain an 8-3 record, and look to figure in the playoff conversation.
