Misfits trio hit free agency
The dust had hardly settled after Misfits' defeat at the hands of AVANGAR before AWPer Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan revealed that his contract with the organization ended today, and he has not as of yet been formally asked to re-sign. The news of the trios contracts expiring during the event was initially reported by Jarek "DeKay" Lewis in December of last year.
Dust2.us has confirmed that the contracts of Sean "seang@res" Gares and Hunter "SicK" Mims have likewise expired. According to DeKay's earlier reports, the French duo of François "AmaNEk" Delaunay and David "devoduvek" Dobrosavljevic remain under contract at least until March.
The contracts have run out with just under a month left until the start of ESL Pro League Season 7. If Misfits were to maintain their EPL license and French players, they could theoretically keep their spot in the prestigious league — even without a majority of the previous seasons roster.
If such a thing were to come to pass, it would mark a sad end to the story of a Misfits squad that has steadily climbed the ranks for the last seven months, culminating in a 3-4th place finish at ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals, and the Major Qualifier appearance that came to a close today.
