SK organization withdraw from ECS Season 6; AZIO and compLexity receive spots
FACEIT have informed Dust2.us that the ECS Season 6 Challenger Cup has changed, again. This time, an entire section of the tournament has been axed due to the availability of a new spot in the upcoming season of ECS, due to SK withdrawing from the league due to them lacking a team.
Dust2.us had previously reported on the status of SK's spot in the league, which from looking at the schedule in a tweet from FURIA coach Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira, appeared to be vacated as three spots were up for qualification. This had later been updated on the ECS Challenger Cup spreadsheet to display only two spaces, implying that SK had withdrawn their vacation.
This decision means that both compLexity and AZIO have qualified for the upcoming ECS Season 6 league without having to play another match in the tournament. The final game to decide the third place in the upcoming season will be played between Gorilla Gang and MIBR at 6:30 PM EDT.
The current list of teams for ECS Season 6 is as follows:
ECS Season 6 North America | |
Cloud9 | eUnited |
Liquid | Luminosity |
NRG | Renegades |
Rogue | AZIO |
compLexity | MIBR / Gorilla Gang |
