NAF has been solid as a rock for Liquid

What to expect from Liquid v. Astralis

Here we go again...

Liquid and Astralis is more than just a simple matchup. It's a complicated rivalry that has transcended individual matchups. The two sides truly became heated in 2019 when Liquid challenged the legendary Danish side as the best in the world and eventually came away with a Intel Grand Slam victory. Meanwhile, Astralis were focused on the more important goal of securing their 4th Major in just six events. Now, there is a new rivalry brewing as Casper "cadiaN" Møller faces the two former teammates who allegedly got him removed from Heroic - Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard and Martin "stavn" Lund.

The Revenge Tour

It's definitely fun to assume that this matchup will be fueled by cadiaN's need for revenge against jabbi and stavn, but judging by the past performances this will come down to how well the Canadian duo of Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and Keith "NAF" Markovic will play. The two have been the best performers so far in the squad and with Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis finally finding form, good things might finally be coming together.

  • Liquid's mentally was really tested against FlyQuest

  • When YEKINDAR does well, the whole squad does well

  • Is this the start of skullz's comeback?

Astralis comeback tour?

They missed out on the Major, but burst onto IEM Chengdu and came away with a Top four finish. Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz has emerged as the newest IGL of the squad and turned heads with how he's changed this squad. Astralis have only lost to FaZe on LAN in recent times, but even they got their revenge earlier in the tournament. They should be feared as a team with the hot hand.

  • dev1ce has established himself as a solid IGL

  • Staehr is one of the best players on the team

  • br0 still remains a more inexperienced player

Previous Matchups

The organizations have had some legendary matchups, but the players as new squads have never played one another. However, cadiaN should know a thing or two about how stavn and jabbi play.

Likely Vetoes

Astralis seems to enjoy playing Ancient, but really has a good selection over Overpass and Nuke as two other teams in their history. For the squad they will possibly try to pick it, despite Liquid's familiarity, just to play to their own strengths.

  • Liquid ban Vertigo

  • Astralis ban Anubis

  • Liquid pick Mirage

  • Astralis pick Ancient

  • Decider is Overpass

Liquid and Astralis are set to play tomorrow at 10:15AM.
